Our Story

I have journeyed alongside others through the ministry of Spiritual Direction for over 12 years. Having completed the Ministry Education Formation Program in Spiritual Direction through St Francis College in South Queensland and I later earned a Graduate Diploma of Spiritual Direction from Tabor College. I currently serve as an Officer with The Salvation Army, combining pastoral leadership with a passion for accompanying others on their spiritual journey.

I am a 70 year old widow, “almost retired” physiotherapist, mother of 3 sons now all in their 30’s, and proud Nanna of my 12 month old grandson.

It is hard to exactly discern when I began my journey to be Spiritual Director however after seeing my own spiritual director for a number of years I was lead to do a Period of Discernment through Parkin Wesley (now Uniting) College in 2008. While undertaking this course I discerned that my call was not to ordained ministry but to undertake the Spiritual Director’s Formation Program through the Stillpoint Spirituality Centre.

I began this program in 2010 with a great group of Mentors/Leaders and a wonderful group of students – some of whom I still meet with monthly as part of our commitment to peer supervision. I completed my Spiritual Director training in 2012 and since then have been a member of ESDA and regularly see a small number of directees, some of whom I have been meeting with for over 15 years.

I came to spiritual direction through the experience of making a retreat in daily life of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius, beginning in 2017. My (formal) formation as a spiritual director began at Tabor College, and has continued after graduation with further formation to become a Giver of the Spiritual Exercises (through Kardia) and then to offer professional supervision (through Heart of Life).

I joined ESDA in 2021 and have served on the ESDA committee since December 2022.

I also serve as a member of the Australian Ecumenical Council for Spiritual Direction (AECSD).

I am a husband, father of three, and grandfather of two. I am currently part of the formation team in the Tabor College Spiritual Direction program and continue to work part-time as a house parent in a residential drug rehabilitation program located in the Adelaide Hills.

I was trained as a Spiritual Director in 2002 at The Heart of Life, Melbourne and practised it since then. After 30 years working, I have recently retired from my mainstream works as a Physiotherapist and as a Pastoral Associate.

I am now having more time and energy to just focus on spirituality and its accompanying work. I am always and most energized with the ongoing Group Retreat work and the Enneagram study with its inner work in relation to Spiritual Direction.

Graduated from Tabor in 2022 with a Diploma in Theology and 2 years training as Spiritual Director. Previously working in administration within Church and Theological College environment for several years. Enjoys reading, art, writing poetry and all the glories of God‘s wonderful creation.
